13.Can you put me on page one in Google in a month or a week?
14.What do I need to do on my part to assist in my SEO marketing strategy?
15.Who can I call or contact for Search engine Optimization AKA> SEO?

1What is it? A> Search marketing has a few names, let’s begin with search engine optimization also known as the letter’s > S E O. Search marketing is one of many marketing strategies for online internet business and a promotional tool to promote site or ( physical) location business available via the internet today.
2.Do I need it? A> IF you are interested in marketing your online business or service and are in it for the long or short run, you need some form of marketing to keep your business alive and prospering.
3.Is it worth it? A> Search engine optimization is the most effective form of marketing to ensure your internet business remains viable in any industry.
4.Why is it ongoing and not a onetime thing? A > Search engine optimization is a process of coding methodology that takes place in the back end of your web site. Think of your web site as a very large excel project that has many pages, it’s like a maze. The pages contain your web design elements and your development elements all in very technical code structures. Beginning with even your title or domain name and flowing from their all the way across and down to the footer of your home or landing page. Your images, the elements of design, every word that is content on those pages are viewed through the eyes or not a human but a robotic spider. They see code and not the beautiful image of a web site that we humans see. They translate that code and so with all of that code it took to make every single aspect of one web page, have to be coded with tags that target and feed those robotic spiders, to coax them from the top to the bottom of each page within your web site. It’s a meticulous and time consuming work of art to keep a robot per say, interested. Thus analysis, of the site itself, how it’s designed, code checking and bug fixing, and content as well as a perfect theme and title. These are a few of the steps that are necessary to performed on each and every page from the beginning to the end. And spiders, well they are also much like humans, they get tired of being fed the same old thing, Thus, changes need to occur to content on your web site to make them happy and keep them returning. It all requires consistent measurements, changes and monitoring to make the to keep those little robots feeding through your web site, They take if you will, your web site, your content back to back to their nest i.e.> Google – Yahoo – MSN and more. They say this is a perfect match for what the internet surfers are requesting. End Result Your web site is ranked high and visible in the first few pages for a targeted consumer who is seeking what you have. These are but a few things that occur there are many more with your on- page (which is every page) top to bottom of your web site and there is also off page work that must done for organic traffic increase.
5.What are my options without it for marketing? A>There are many options for internet marketing. Blog marketing, affiliate marketing, PPC, Ad words, Banner advertising and more, But none are as effective or bring as high a return as search engine optimization (SEO).
6.How do I compete in the internet market on a long standing basis and not day to day or month to month? A> SEO, and nothing less is your best option.
7.What is the most practical and cost effective way I can spend my marketing budget? A> You first need to determine your budget and when performing that ask yourself one primary question: What kind of results do I want to see? That one question alone should determine for you a budget for success.
8.Does SEO really work? A> The answer to that question will rely on a few factors. Some good and free advice for you. The company you select for your SEO makes a difference and that is a fact. You can crawl to a freelance environment and who knows with a lot of luck and prayers just maybe someone will not come along and simply take your money without delivering the results that you paid for, or you can seek out a reputable and licensed company who can provide you with direct client references that prove their ability and if you follow their suggestions and recommendations your web site within a reasonable time frame will be a sure success and bring you the returns you deserve.
9.Does SEO have some rules or regulations? A> It absolutely does and if Google regulations are not followed to a T, you risk losing your web site to the Google blacklist. What is a black listed web site? It’s one that has crossed the line in the fair market trade. It has violated the trust and breech specific rules that regulate the flow of internet traffic by misleading or simply put cheated and crossed the line. Black hats SEO is a big matter, if your web site violates specific terms and regulations, it will be removed from the pages of search and you and close the doors on your business because there is no coming back.
10.How do I know the person talking to me about marketing really knows their stuff? A> Just follow the free advice I provided above, Speak with a reputable company who is based with a license to do business and a client directory of references who don’t mind your verifying their references direct. Like any other form of business you would perform. Who eats at a restaurant that isn’t licensed by a health agency to provide food?
11.How do I begin to get a quote and know I am not being taken advantage of? A> Any SEO or search engine optimization quote is a marketing budget quote. It is certainly not free and if someone is offering monthly marketing to you for pennies on the dollar I would advise you to run the opposite direction. There are hundreds of thousand freelance communities out there on the internet who have literally in the millions of people from all cultures of the world who will offer to provide it for you for a mere pittance and when you chose to become involved there is the possibility you will turn out to be another one of the horror stories that have come to EDS, that has been completely taken advantage of. Freelance communities offer you no guarantee after paying for the first month of SEO or even web development services that the work you paid for or the quality will be delivered and do not be mistaken like some other that you will have the upper hand by not agreeing to payment until the work is completed there. Search engine marketing as we have stated is very technical and very time consuming however the most effective form of internet marketing. But you can also wind up losing your domain and web site if black market tactics or black hat illegal techniques are used. Ask yourself do you really want to pay that price? Because essentially your web business under that domain and all content are lost, you have just tossed out your internet business down the drain. On a average SEO cost are according to the latest statistics we have gathered at typically 500.00 per month and higher depending on the size of a website and its complexities as well as the competitiveness of the market penetration, and the reason is because it is a full time work and again I cannot stress enough just how technical. So ask yourself this question: Is my business worth paying a 16 dollar a day salary to market? I think we can all then clearly see how the cost is justified really.
12.How do I verify the work flow and process of SEO? A> Any reputable SEO company will provide you with status reports and also a Google analytic account so that you can verify the progress of your search results, traffic increase , decrease and the fluctuations along with the link building that’s also occurring on your web site with your progression of SEO.
13.Can you put me on page one in Google in a month or a week? A> Anyone who even comes close to making that promise to you my advice would be take your money and run! Search engine optimization is a work in progress for brand new domains it takes time, for web sites that are preexisting it still takes time, each web site varies due to many factors such as site coding, bugs, flash and multiple factors. SEO is not an overnight winner and if any one makes that promise look out, it is a work of true art, takes talent, commitment, drive and passion for the art form itself. If that sounds like a fairytale to any one just ask any SEO provider worth salt and they will tell you the same, it’s not just a job that takes technical expertise and knowledge, it requires pride and passion that’s where the true commitment comes in, when you care about your clients business as much as you do your very own.
14.What do I need to do on my part to assist in my SEO marketing strategy? A>
15.What do I need to do on my part to assist in my SEO marketing strategy? A> You need to be willing to listen to sound advice, and take constructive advise about your web design, from functionality to even design that can also hinder your web sites ability to be in its optimum position within search browsers. A good SEO practitioner will lead you and guide you in all the right directions. A good SEO practitioner will pass on advice to you for the good of your marketing efforts and goals. Your most important part, is to simply listen with an open mind. Flash web designs and all that bling are cute and nice to look at but it you want top ranking positions, your web site from the basis of even the design need to step up to the plate and measure up to compete its that’s simple.
16.Who can I call or contact for Search engine Optimization AKA SEO? A> There are a multitude of people advertising themselves as SEO search engine marketing practitioners my best advice to you speak with them, ensure they are a licensed company and speak with their clients direct. That’s all the proof you will ever need. As with any other form of business in the wide world now, there are many fake designer brands if you will pardon the phrase. It’s your business that is at risk, if you are captivate by someone willing to provide the hard and technical work required for SEO (search engine marketing) at a dirt cheap price. The price most often in the not so long run you could pay is the probability of losing your web site to a black list and never getting it back or the domain use.

SEO is a professional service and a very technical one indeed that’s has rules and its own technological computer language to adhere to. It’s the most effective successful form of marketing for any business today regardless of your industry. Give it the respect that it deserves and it will serve you well. Health Care Reform? Isn’t that something that ” Makes You Sick”

Filed under: Heath care reform — admin @ 3:17 AM

How many of us are completely “sick” of the health care reform political issue?
I would estimate that the majority of people are. To me its doesn’t take a ” title” of status to understand, no matter your size, age, gender, race, religion, color, or creed every God or power that be creature deserves to have and should have health care. What I am not getting is why it has become a political issue or debate, why do governments and by that I speaking of ” Parties” republican, democrat, liberal or whomever what title makes you happy? Why do “we the people” allow such control? And believe me it is nothing short of an issue that the American public has given over total control of health, economy, business, freedom to people that taxes are paying Hugh profitable salaries to!
One of two things should be here at that is simply’
1) Stop paying for the political agenda that’s not addressing this issue, they are simply charging you for the debate
2) Demand reform that stops the high cost , charges and profits the insurance companies are getting, then it drives the cost down!
Health care in a nut shell is simply this:
1. It’s needed
2. It should be provided
It is controlled by government already people, in that they allowed these big insurance companies the privilege of driving up their cost to not only citizens, but business, small to large. Physicians and medical center cost were driven up as a direct result of this, as well as higher educational cost to provide the staffing, facilities and to store information.
Who is making the profit here??
The insurance companies blame the medical facilities, physicians, etc. they in turn blame the other, well who put these powers that be in the very seats they sit in??
From Corporate seats, to chairman of the board, to “Political offices!
in this writers opinion, it is well past time for people to stop sitting on the ” Bums” get off the couch, you do have a voice, it’s not a race issue, it’s not a religious issue, it’s not a gender issues nor is it a sexual orientation issue, so I am presuming to a significant many it’s easier to sit on the couch, grip about then, than to do what your constitution allows and ” Let your voice be heard in it” Years ago, the average housewife across America would boycott a supermarket if they jumped too high on their prices, and trust me they changed the method in which monopolies were being formed, they closed the doors of a lot of them and shut them down. Society today would rather debate any issue at the cost of the already broken backed tax payers then to stop sitting on the sofa watching cable TV and doing something to help pull this economy out of the ditch and provide the basic service deserved by all human kind and that is health care. You can stop using the excuse, it would be government controlled, and it has been already for years! And that’s exactly why the industry niche has been allowed to sore past the point of being affordable to business industry and the average mom and dad.
It is a political debate guys! As long as everyone allows it to be.
You could take the money already being spent on research about the topic, debate between the government house, senate and congress and pay for health care!, The real issue here, is it will stop insurance companies from make the Hugh profit they have taken from industry and the public, it would cut back on Doctor office visits that cost you a week salary to attend.
Wake up America! What’s your position on it? Are you “Sick” of health care debate while people are dying every day bit by bit?
And please let me say a few good things about the Canadian health care system. It’s a joke for any other country to bash something you know noting truly about. I visit Canada and also own a business there as well as the states. The general health of people there is far greater; you do not have people running to clinics at the drop of a hat for a common cold, taking advantage of any service. You do not have people on long waiting list to see a doctor, most emergency room cases are in and being monitored with in a 30 time factor and most of them less than that. You do not have people taking advantage of the system, because they know if needed it’s their every day and available to them.
The disgrace is not just on that of big corporate business that claims they have your best interest in mind, it’s also on the very people” us” that have allowed this to happen.
In every nation and every medical environment you have and hear stories that are not pleasant, in paid health care or in government run health care, I should know AIA worked in it for many years! The point is, stop the madness, if you want to do something productive about it, then simply let you voice be heard. It’s not costly to call your governor’s office, or send an email or mail out a letter, it’s not costly, to use the internet, it’s not costly to email your senator, or any other form of letting your voice be heard!
Word press offers free blogs, it’s easy to set it up, use it!

For Better or For Worse!

Filed under: SEO — admin @ 9:25 AM

Sounds like a marriage ceramony doesn’t it ?? ( lol)

Nov 11 expect a change in the home page of Yahoo!

Welcome home to the new Yahoo.com

Tapan Bhat, Integrated Consumer Experiences for Yahoo Inc states:

Comments / Filed in: Trends & News

It’s a huge day – for us and for you. After months of testing, listening, adjusting, and testing again, we’re ready to start rolling out a new Yahoo! homepage – one that is tailored to you and your interests like never before.

You’ll soon see for yourself. Starting today, anyone living in the U.S. can opt-in to the new page by visiting http://yahoo.com/trynew, and our friends in France, India, and the UK will have access to localized versions in the coming week. We’ll start rolling out to other markets in the next month.

Marketing- Marketing and Marketing!

What thoughts and analysis go into changing a major search browswers home page? And the reasons for the changes.

The answers are not as simple as one might think. Research and development along with a significant amount of testing is involved in the thought process, design concept and actual development for a major browsers home page.

From a Internet marketing stand points it’s all about:

1. Penetration of new markets
2. End users analytics
3. Retention of previous end users who suggest change
4. Competitor Analysis
5. Re- Branding Strategy

Google strategist opened the doors to new Labs, androids, Google wave, Chrome and a significant amount of new Apps for their end users over the past 2 years they have strategically rolled out campaign after campaign in competing in the market and chose to become a very real threat to some significant industry in a direct confrontation with Microsoft Corporation with windows platform.

It is the technology industry’s equivalent of the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. Google, the web upstart founded 11 years ago, has announced it will go head-to-head with Microsoft with an operating system (OS) – the programs that make a computer work – for machines ranging from handhelds up to desktop computers.

If Google can get enough people to buy computers running its new Chrome OS, it will cut into Microsoft’s two biggest cash cows: Windows and its Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Microsoft, which once spoke of “cutting off the air supply” of a web-based rival, Netscape, has woken up to find a new threat reaching for its throat.

The confrontation has been expected for years – despite Google’s insistence it had no such ambitions – but it still caught observers by surprise when a Google spokeswoman confirmed to IT news service IDG that it plans to announce this week the names of computer makers in Taiwan and China signed up to work with Chrome OS, and said that it will show off Chrome’s user interface later this year.

Which brings us to another thought process in that the number of imports on a global level to every country from China for technologies in our computer literate world and societies.

So getting back to the basics here. A lot of thought and research process goes into marketing strategies and change for any business. If managed right!

From a web presence for a simple service level or ecommerce retail site to a more significant web presence the infamous Internet Browsers such as Yahoo- Google- MSN- Fire Fox- and now Chrome.

What strategies should be considered when considering “ Change” a word that is not often swallowed to easily by some?

A few well thought out suggestions for successfully marketing that change or Re-Brand effort as we call it in the marketing societies:

What is the number one reason to Re-Brand? On any level.

1. To overcome negative perception in the marketplace causing a loss in revenue- audience and market penetration.

When rebranding it should reflect the new core values of the industry or business and take into consideration the personality of the company and its industry analytics and market positioning of the brand along with the expectations customers or end users have of the brand. Develop a list of brand attributes that the new brand should incorporate through research and analytics including a full competitor and geographical penetration analysis and use the positive traits to help develop a new brand that reflects the new direction of the company.

Branding becomes and provides a powerful connection between a company and their customer. When researched, planning and deployed accurately, rebranding will significantly strengthen the relationship of clients, penetrate new markets and secure existing customers while benefiting the company through growth – retention and increasing your profit margin.

The number one thing to watch and monitor in any Market is your competitor or competition from marketing prospective. If your business isn’t generating profit, growth or retention then that phenomenal word “ CHANGE’ needs to occur, for the BETTER and not for the Worse!

Re- Branding is one of the most neglected Marketing tools available to pull a company out of decline in today’s market. Many companies have gone and will go down the drain simply because some top level VIP, has a hard time swallowing that simple word “ CHANGE” .

Our marketing strategies and Brand identity campaigns can take your industry to a whole new level!

Do you have a web site (internet business presence) that isn’t growing from targeted quality traffic? The search engine Google in 2007 indexed over 1 TRILLION pages alone on the internet and that’s only 1 of the big 4 major search browsers available to the market today. How many people search through those 1 TRILLION pages were looking for exactly the product or service that your company has and can offer?

How many could have been your loyal customer or client? How many of those internet surfers actually found your web site?

That is a very significant number of pages to have to weed through when seeking any service or any product available on the internet! Now ask yourself this question- How can this many people find my web site? Our search engine optimization can drive them right to your door!

And when they get there how easy is it for them to navigate to the exact thing they are looking for in order to find it quickly? Are my products represented that the imaging and content alone will provide that call to action to make that sell quickly with in a 10 second window? Our design and redesign services can provide that call to action that closes that sell and provides you a satisfied and happy client.

All of these are things to consider when you manage and provide a internet service or product business. It’s not about how flashy and colorful it is, it’s about how easy and quick the navigation is to the thing clients are seeking and how well they are represented so that it provides a distinct call to action quickly.

In most cases you will find that even if your service is little more expensive or your product just a bit higher than another websites, if it’s found quickly and represented well, the sell will be yours, before someone takes the time to have to read through a 20 minute lecture about your product and service in order to obtain it.

Simple things that are helpful and that work! CHANGE is a good thing! And one that is well worth swallowing pridefulness to benefit a company and keep it from closing its doors.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY INTERNET

Filed under: SEO — admin @ 1:33 PM

Birth of Global communication Technology……

Birth of the Internet

The First Connections: 1970

Computers cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in the 1960s. What’s more, they took up a lot of space. That meant there weren’t many powerful computers to go around for the military personnel and scientists who needed them.

To solve the problem, the Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) decided to try to connect a handful of large computers (a super computer if you will) so they could share software, research information, and storage space across whole states for efficiency.

Spreading the powerful computers was thought top also be a form of protection geographically removed computers meant it would be much harder for an enemy to take out the military’s computer information in one blow.

A system called ARPAnet was then established, which had four main hubs: the Universities of California in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, the University of Utah, and SRI International. Once connected, a researcher could sit down at a computer at one hub and pull anything off a computer at another hub.

Over a period of time connections between army bases, universities, and science centers expanded creating an ever-expanding web of computers. In 1985 the National Science Foundation improved the system when it funded the NSFNET. This had a solid base of five supercomputer centers to serve as highways for all the data traffic. The centers that housed these super highways were Princeton University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of California in San Diego, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Cornell University.

This first Internet system could send data at 56 kilobits per second. Today, the system has been upgraded to cables which can transmit information nearly 30 times that quickly, modems and wireless. In 1991, NSF first allowed commercial use of the Internet. In 1995, NSF removed its funding completely, leaving the Internet a self-supporting industry.

Technology and media stars, pundits, and entrepreneurs joined the Internet’s father on Thursday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his culture-changing child.

“It’s the 40th year since the infant Internet first spoke,” said University of California, Los Angeles, professor Leonard Kleinrock, who headed the team that first linked computers online in 1969.

Kleinrock led an anniversary event at the UCLA campus that blended reminiscence of the Internet’s past with debate about its future.

“There is going to be an ongoing controversy about where we have been and where we are going,” said Arianna Huffington, co-founder of the popular news and blog website that bears her name.

“It is not just about the Internet; it is about our times. We are going to need desperately to tap into the better angels of our nature and make our lives not just about ourselves but about our communities and our world.”

Huffington was on hand to discuss the power the Internet gives to grass roots organizers on a panel with Kleinrock and Social Brain Foundation director Isaac Mao.

“The Internet is a democratizing element; everyone has an equivalent voice,” Kleinrock said. “There is no way back at this point. We can’t turn it off. The Internet Age is here.”

Kleinrock never imagined Face book, Twitter, or YouTube that day 40 years ago when his team gave birth to what is now taken for granted as the Internet.

“The net is penetrating every aspect of our lives,” Kleinrock said to a room of about 200 people and an equal number watching online.

“As a teenager the Internet is behaving badly, the dark side has emerged. The question is when it grows into a young adult will it get over this period of misbehaving?”

Kleinrock referred to spam emails, online scams and malicious software spread by crooks as an unexpected dark side of the Internet.

On October 29, 1969 Kleinrock led a team that got a computer at UCLA to “talk” to one at a research institute.

“It feels to me like the alumni meeting of the framers of the US Constitution,” Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder John Perry Barlow said as he addressed the gathering.

“There are a lot of people in this room who are honest to god uncles and aunts of the Internet. What you did is conceivably the most important technological event since the capture of fire.”

Barlow, whose nonprofit legal organization fights for online freedom, maintained that Internet access is on the verge of becoming an inalienable human right.

Kleinrock was driven by a certainty that computers were destined to speak to each other and that the resulting network should be as simple to use as telephones.

US telecom colossus AT&T ran lines connecting the computers for ARPANET, a project backed with money from a research arm of the US military.

A key to getting computers to exchange data was breaking digitized information into packets fired between on-demand with no wasting of time, according to Kleinrock.

Engineers began typing “LOG” to log into the distant computer, which crashed after getting the “O.”

“So, the first message was ‘Lo’ as in ‘Lo and behold’,” Kleinrock recounted. “We couldn’t have a better, more succinct first message.”

Kleinrock’s team logged in on the second try, sending digital data packets between computers on the ARPANET because funding came from the US Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) established in 1958.

ARPANET grew into what is known today as the Internet.

Kleinrock, 75, sees the Internet spreading into everything.

“The next step is to move it into the real world,” Kleinrock said. “The Internet will be present everywhere. I will walk into a room and it will know I am there. It will talk back to me

Happy Birth day Internet! And many great wishes for the years that will follow!

SEO a must have to be successful as a business operating on the internet!

SEO a must have to be successful as a business operating on the internet!

Internet marketing is essential to the success of web sites.

You can have a professional looking web site business, one that looks great! However what good is it doing if internet users are not able to find it when they need your products and services? That is where an internet marketing campaign comes into play. And nothing is better than SEO!

“Your website has to appear on the first few search pages before buyers when they need products and services.”

SEO requires research and analysis for individual website, and then the application of optimization of the actual website itself. Visit www.ecommercedesignsolutionsinc.com for extensive teaching on Search engine optimization.

A significant amount of time is spent on each website, depending on the size of your target market, competitors and also the regions you want to market in. You are essentially paying for a lot of effort involved, effectiveness, monitoring and tracking of your website and changes that have to take place with the changes of the internet’s own search rhythms because they absolutely do change as well and your site optimization will also have to flow cohesively with it. See SEO ethical and unethical at www.ecommercedesignsolutionsinc.com.

You hear a lot about internet marketing and believe you me some do charge an arm and a leg for it, some change a pittance that’s well below normal and then there are the companies who have a conscious, a heart and a fair market price structure. Regardless of who you chose to go with make sure they in fact have experience you can verify, clients you can call direct and speak with, successful campaigns active on the internet and a business license. I will never recommend freelancers, I have had too many horror stories from client who used them and wound up getting ripped off by people who made large claims, and provided noting.

For you developers and marketing staff out there, be fair to your clients and more importantly honest! Don’t promise them the moon, if they have issues so bad on their web site that the site itself isn’t search engine friendly do yourself and your client a favor and tell them the truth, give the opportunity to take care of issues that can and do affect their SEO results. Also be honest in telling them the results take time, buts its time well worth the small investment in the return of results they will receive! www.ecommercedesignsolutionsinc.com

You’ll do yourself a favor by having a client that can appreciate; you’re not trying to dig any further into their pockets, but helping them and their business become a Hugh success and increasing their profit growth. You’ll earn their respect and their trust and continue in a successful relationship for both. Also let them know up front that results take some time, it’s not an overnight boost to page one!

Building a web site does not make you a success and if you took the time to building internet business, then take the time to ensure you didn’t just waist your money. Like any brick and mortar business or site facility. You have to invest in it for it to become a household name and a resource that people trust and depend on and one that they will refer to others and come back as repeat clients.

There are a lot of forms of internet marketing but none as productive or as profitable as SEO and that is an undisputable fact, Ecommerce design solutionsinc.com can certainly help in that manner with a proven client track record of our ability and performance

Other forms of campaigns can cost a significant amount more even pay per click can become very expensive. Blog marketing is an excellent compliment to an SEO campaign especially for brand new domains and internet business start ups. A very important factor in it all is your content and its relevance to your site, products and services so consider if you don’t have the ability a creative writer with experience in SEO campaigns it well worth the bit of money spent on it. www.ecommercedesignsolutionsinc.com

For a fair market price on an SEO campaign for your business contact us a www.ecomemrcedesignsolitionsinc.com. We have the experience, the knowledge, the ability, the license and the clients to prove it all! www.ecommercedesignsolutionsinc.com

SEO results do not happen overnight, it’s a time investment, but not a lot of time. It’s worth 100 times what you pay in a fair market price for it! It’s the one form of marketing that gets you noticed, and converts targeted traffic to sales and loyal clients. www.ecommercedesignsolutionsinc.com

There’s nothing like SEO, Nothing out performs it!

Google New Look- Invention of the Bar Code.

Filed under: SEO — admin @ 3:33 PM

Google New Look

On Holidays and Special occasions Google changes there doodle or Logo if you will.

This week they decided to honor the 57th anniversary of the Bar Code invention. A strange symbol and one that people are decidedly split on. Some e say it’s complicated our lives and has the possibility of allowing too much control into the lives of people versus products. Or the opposite side is, it simply made processing0 categorizing and inventory a much faster process! Whatever your take it I’d like to hear it! Just use the comment field below. None the less its a great conversation piece and topic.

Google has honored the 57th anniversary of the invention of the bar code

Users of the internet search engine are being greeted with a bar code in place of the usual Google logo, exactly 57 years after United States inventors Norman Woodland and Bernard Silver were granted a patent.

Google has changed its home page “logo to honor the 57th anniversary of the invention of the bar code.

Bar Codes

The first patent for bar code (US Patent #2,612,994) was issued to inventors Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver on October 7, 1952.

Woodland and Silver, who met while students at the Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia originally devised a system that would encode data in concentric circles.

The lines of varying width were developed later, partly inspired by Morse code.

According to a Washington Post report, the doodle bar code appears to have been created by encrypting the word ‘Google’ using Code 128, a standard symbology.

The original patent was filed by Woodland and Silver in 1949 and granted on 7 October 1952.

However, bar codes were not used commercially until retailers in the National Association of Food Chains (NAFC) agreed on the familiar Universal Product Code designs that are still seen on billions of worldwide items today.

The first supermarket scanner that could read UPC bar codes was installed at a Marsh supermarket in Troy, Ohio, in June 1974. The first product to bear the bar code was a packet of Wrigley’s chewing gum.

A bit of shopping history.

The first shopping mall was the Country Club Plaza, founded by the J.C. Nichols Company and opened near Kansas City, Mo., in 1922. The first enclosed mall called South dale opened in Edina, Minnesota (near Minneapolis) in 1956. In the 1980s, giant megamalls were developed. The West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, Canada, opened in 1981 – with more than 800 stores and a hotel, amusement park, miniature-golf course, church, “water park” for sunbathing and surfing, a zoo and a 438-foot-long lake.

Shopping Carts

Sylvan Goldman invented the first shopping cart in 1936. Sylvan owned a chain of Oklahoma City grocery stores called Standard and the Piggly-Wiggly. He invented the first shopping cart by adding two wire basket and wheels to a folding chair. Goldman, together with mechanic Fred Young, later designed a dedicated shopping cart in 1947 and formed the Folding Carrier Co. to manufacture the carts.

In 1946, Orla Watson, of Kansas City, MO, invented the telescoping shopping cart. By using hinged baskets, each shopping cart fitted into the shopping cart ahead for compact storage. The telescoping shopping carts were first used at Floyd Day’s Super Market in 1947.

Smart Carts

Silicon Valley inventor George Cokely – the same guy behind the Pet Rock – has come up with a modern solution to one of the supermarket industry’s oldest problems: stolen shopping carts. It’s called Stop Z-Cart. The wheel of the shopping cart hold the device which contains a chip and some electronics, when the cart is rolled over a certain distance away from the store, the shopping cart owners know about it.

Shopping Cart Bumpers with Advertising

Harold Evans patented (US patent #5,306,033) a shopping cart bumper system, a foam wrap-around unit that protects while providing valuable advertising space.

Automatic Doors

Horton Automatics developed and sold the first automatic sliding door in America in 1960. The company co-founders Dee Horton and Lew Hewitt invented the sliding automatic door in 1954. Their automatic doors used a mat actuator.

“The idea came to Lew Hewitt and Dee Horton to build an automatic sliding door back in the mid-1950’s, when they saw that existing swing doors had difficulty operating in Corpus Christi’s winds. So the two men went to work inventing an automatic sliding door that would circumvent the problem of high winds and their damaging effect. Horton Automatics Inc. was formed in 1960, placing the first commercial automatic sliding door on the market and literally establishing a brand-new industry.” source

The Horton Family – Automated Entry

If Horton Automatics of Corpus Christi has its way, homes in the United States will begin installing sliding automatic doors, which company co-founders Dee Horton and Lew Hewitt invented in 1954. Their first door in operation was a unit donated to the City of Corpus Christi for its Shoreline Drive utilities department. The first one sold was installed at the old Driscoll Hotel for its Torch Restaurant.

Cash Register

In 1884, James Ritty invented what was nicknamed the “Incorruptible Cashier” or the first working, mechanical cash register.

Credit Cards and Money

Mail Order Catalog

Aaron Montgomery Ward sent out his first mail order catalog in 1872 – for his Montgomery Ward mail order business located at Clark and Kinzie Streets in Chicago. The first catalog consisted of a single sheet of paper with a price list, 8 by 12 inches, showing the merchandise for sale with ordering instructions.

“Ward’s gradually expanded the catalog. They became bigger, more heavily illustrated, chock full of goods– often referred to as “dream books” by rural families.”

Aaron Montgomery Ward was born on Feb. 17, 1844 and died on Dec. 7, 1913. He first worked for Marshall Field, a department store, as both a store clerk and a traveling salesman. As a traveling salesman, he realized that his rural customers could be better served by mail-order, a revolutionary idea. He started his business with only $2,400 in capital. Montgomery Ward was a mail-order only business until 1926, when the first Montgomery Ward retail store opened in Plymouth, Indiana.

Department Stores

According to Hoover’s online, “Bloomingdale’s was founded in 1872 by brothers Lyman and Joseph Bloomingdale, the store rode the popularity of the hoop skirt to sales success and practically invented the department store concept at the beginning of the 20th century. Bloomingdale’s joined the Federated corporate family in 1930.”

In 1877, John Wanamaker opened “The Grand Depot” a six story round department store in Philadelphia. According to Andrew Maykuth Online, “John Wanamaker never claimed to have invented the department store, but he was on the cutting edge of a trend. The retail giants of the day, Marshall Field in Chicago, Alexander T. Steward in New York, were discovering that the vast power of buying wholesale could cut costs to reduce retail prices.” John Wanamaker is credited with developing one of the first (if not the first) true department stores in the country, and with creating the first White Sale, modern price tags, and the first in-store restaurant. He also pioneered the use of money-back guarantees and newspaper ads to advertise his retail goods. John Wanamaker (1838-1922)

Who provides it? Exactly What is it? How does it work? Â When is the best time? Where do I get it? Â Why should I have it?

Today – Tomorrow and the next day after. Search engine technologies (Google- MSN- Yahoo and more) are constantly evolving. What does this mean? It means what is relevant today, maybe is not so relevant tomorrow, there are no guarantees and that is the number one fact here. What is rendered to it today or this week, will change and that is also a fact! Thus, this is why SEO

(Search engine optimization) IS NOT a One Time shot or process. Please know this. My experience has been on a lot of the freelance sites, so many people flood there in the hopes of undermining an industry expertise, and believe me it is very much an expertise, in order to obtain quality marketing at a cheap discount price. And trust me you will get exactly what you paid for! And perhaps other things you didn’t really want as well. Ecommerce Design Solutions inc can help you with the correct path to proceed for search engine optimization, custom creative web design and development,

The only way to keep your website at a proper place of search results is – as general it sounds – providing content that people are both interested in and are looking for. Thus the optimization should start at the beginning of your web site and that is with its theme. So now we come to the

When?

At the beginning! Your design…What is a web design theme?

Creating a unifying theme is one of the most important steps in designing a website. Your theme should reflect the purpose of your website and provide a continuity of design elements throughout your site.

In other words a theme should help you to convey your message and impart a consistent look that runs throughout your website. Begin by deciding upon the title of your site. Then study examples of successful websites. Using the ideas they provide develop a plan that expresses your theme and create a homepage that will demand further investigation.

Determine exactly what your site is all about … an interest you want to promote, a product or service you want to sell, information you want to share. Keep this focus as you design your pages. Your site should not attempt to be “all things to all people”. An ecommerce web site should have the look and feel of an ecommerce web site. A Legal services web site should have the look and feel and flow of a legal services web site.

Avoid the traps and gadgets of tons of flash- gizmos and gadgets; they do more harm in most cases than good. A web site that is designed to be perfectly clear on its theme and purpose will soar in the ranks opposed to one that is loaded with flash – irrelevant images and contact or gizmos.

In general, search engines have been designed by people who are skilled at gathering, storing and analyzing raw data, programmers, mathematicians and other talented people with innovative ideas. And the average person does not think in the same manner that search engine do, thus you need an SEO RANK advisor and marketer, that’s us! And one who has a proven track record at that! Again that’s us!

Search engine optimization ( SEORANK ) is the bridge over the wide gap, it;s purpose to bring together business and clients and the information they search for and have in common. It overlaps the sometimes still too mathematics-based search engine technology, and takes your business on the internet much closer to your target audience. SEO is about analyzing and examining how people are looking up information on the web, in order to place your companies provisions right in front of there reach, and not how you may trick them into visiting your website.

1.: Choosing your Keywords

  • Some research facts from the web 62% of people enter 2 word phrases into search engines,
  • 17% of all users look for 3 word combinations
  • only about 20% of them try their luck with only a single word.

Do not choose keywords to optimize your site for that you don’t have the slightest chance of

ranking well on, because of the fierce competition. Instead choose long tail key words and additional blog marketing avenues- press release and social media to help boost your rank in your area of expertise. Avenues that will compliment your SEO and improve your SEO RANK

  • Do not choose a keyword that nobody looks for.
  • Do not choose a keyword that does not relate strongly enough to your content.
  • Use content in your web site relevant to your products- service and business.
  • Do not use words that may get your site filtered or banned from search engines.

Do not use images with filenames or ALT tags ( Alt attributes of IMG tag ) that may get your site filtered or banned from search engines.

Only use dynamic pages when the functionality demands it. Static pages are significantly better

Use lots of relevant content, well laid out into separate pages. For best results optimize one page for one keyword. Â And very important have your key word density correct!

Do not post half-finished sites.

2.: HTML <HEAD> Content

2.1.: <Title> Tag

The title should not be any longer than 70-100 characters, including spaces. ( Google – DMOZ )

The title should bot be any longer than 60 characters. ( scrubtheweb.com )

The title should not begin with the domain name. It is often considered as spam.

The domain name shouldn’t be repeated in the title. It is often considered as spam.

Do not use the same filename as the title tag, or the same filename as the domain name. It is often considered as spam.

2.2.: <Meta Description> Tag

Shouldn’t be any longer than 25-30 words ( DMOZ ).

Shouldn’t be any longer than 100 characters ( Google ).

Shouldn’t be any longer than 150 characters ( scrubtheweb.com ).

Shouldn’t be any longer than 200 characters ( searchenginewatch.com referring to Google ).

2.3.: <Meta Keywords> Tag

Shouldn’t be any longer than 268 characters ( AltaVista ).

Shouldn’t be any longer than 378 characters ( searchenginewatch.com referring to Google ).

You should not use words that are not present in the body of the page. No hidden text or doorway pages.

Redundant characters will not hurt overall results, however words after the first 300 characters rarely do any good.

Start all keywords with capital letters.( Relevant only on alphabetical listings )

Separate keywords with the “, ” ( comma, space ) character combination. ( Most search engines use either character as the separator )

.

  • You may use phrases as well.
  • You should not use any word, not even within phrases more than 3 times. It is often considered as spam

.

3.: Content

The text on the page should contain the keywords right at the beginning of the page.

Do not overuse keywords. Neither keyword should take up more than 12-24% of the entire body text. It is often considered as spam.

Do not use too much content right on the front page. Both loading time and redundancy of additional words used will reduce the chance of showing up in relevant searches.

4.: HTML Code Page

In case your website uses a language different than the default of the search engine which your target audience prefers, or your website uses special characters unique to that language, make sure to implement the proper HTML codepage tag.

Unicode versions of special characters ( HTML encoded characters ) are more or less impossible to look up in most search engines.

5.: Search Engine Basics

Search engines operate by funds as well. Funds are collected either from selling advertisement placement, selling listings, or both. When a search engine company sells out the area above the search results as advertisement space, and displays only relevant results based on what the users were looking for, most people will be mislead by the placement of such links, and choose them instead of the actual results.

You may be listed for free even on fee based search engines by getting your site listed on either of the directories the search engine company buys information from. However, such directories such as Yahoo.com and DMOZ.org are moderated based on relevance and content, thus getting listed on their websites may take some time and efforts.

Most search engines rank your website by relevance, which is measured by the thresh hold of keywords.

Some search engines, such as Google.com as well, will sort even relevant sites by their popularity, measuring the page rank by the actual links leading to the site. Also, the text or ALT TAG text accompanied with these links will influence the keywords the website is shown in the listings for.

Some search engines will consider a website more and more popular when they are clicked on the results page. These inlude AltaVista.com .

6.: Do not overdo it, but do everything you canand do it ethically.

Eventhough META tags have been neglected by most major search engines, some of them still consider them when analyzing websites. Including them in the proper manner can only help, but will never hurt your position.

When trying to trick search engines, you try to trick their creators, who are more than prepared to deal with this. Â Most search engines are updated at least annually to deal with the websites that found a way to deceive their systems.

Most of the websites that have ever used such tactics get blacklisted.

In order to allow web-spiders ( analyzing programs that surf the net and categorise websites ) to inspect all of your webpages, place a file named “robots.txt” in the root directory of your website with the following content

The latest SEM video comes from our friends at Google. They have shared some insights into duplicate content and how they deal with it.

Google Search Quality Engineer, Greg Grothaus, presents the video as part of the Webmaster Outreach program.

Greg clears up one of the most common myths in SEM: the duplicate content penalty.
Here’s how Greg explains it:

I’ve seen evidence of people kind of get worried about this and thinking that [being omitted from the search results] is a penalty Google are applying on their site. What’s actually happening is that we’re looking at the query the users doing and we’re saying we want diversity in the results we’re going to show a user.

So if someone searched for “fluffy bunnies” we want to show, as maybe page one, the wikipedia article on fluffy bunnies but we don’t want to show as page 2 the print version of the same article with the exact same text. So what we’re doing for that specific query, we’re omitting the print article.

How can you combat this? Here are some suggestions:

  • Don’t attempt to manipulate search engine rankings by deliberately duplicating content. If the content is changed in some way or additional value is added, then this is ok. But don’t just copy another website word for word, Google see this as a big no-no
  • Don’t dilute your linking by backlinking to several URL versions with the same content.
  • Make sure your URLs are user-friendly in the search results. URLs with useless parameters may offset branding efforts and decrease usability.
  • Make it easy for Google to crawl you site. More time spent crawling the same content means less time to discover the important content.
  • Pick one “canonical’ URL for each page and ensure you link consistently within your site.

I have posted Greg’s video here, so you can check it out yourself. It’s about 15 minutes in length, so you might need to grab yourself a coffee and settle into your chair.

Do you have any other suggestions to avoid the dreaded duplicate content issues? If so, we would love to hear them. Feel free to share your tips in our comments section below.
